ITAC'17 Europe

Hello Friends ,

Today I am here to share a my Journal page. This is an  interpretation of my Travel and stay for last 4 months in the beautiful European cities and enjoying the British summer !!

I am playing along INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT OF ART & CRAFT ITAC 2017 and the theme is  EUROPE .

I am glad to see how the page has turned out and loads of memories associated with it ,
It sparks the joy of me travelling alone.... yes my son was along with me but Then I was the only adult :)

In the city of Bath , somerset

For the first time in my life being away from my home country and exploring this new place mostly by myself sums up the fact... see the world through my eyes !

The creative inspiration and exposure that these places hold just helps you learn and grow isn't it?

Theme 1 Europe

The elements I have used are

Shades of Blue for Europe

Paper and die cuts

Texture: Gesso and embossed card stocks

Vintage ephemera

Face: Stamp by Peek a boo

Numbers stamps

Letters Tim holtz stickers

bakers twine

For the new followers who asked me this , An art journal, is a book kept by an artist as a visual, and sometimes verbal, record of her thoughts and ideas. Art journals generally combine visual journaling and writing, to create finished pages. Every imaginable style, media and technique is used by art journalists. "Mixed media" tends to refer to a work of visual art that combines various traditionally distinct visual art media—for example, a work on canvas that combines paint, ink, and collage could properly be called a "mixed media" work.

Here is a step by step procedure on how I have made this

  • I use a plain book as journal , you could even use an old diary or old magazine with thick paper so that your paint holds in .
  • I started with using a good coat of gesso on my art Journal , this keeps the page ready for textures and different mediums to be used on it and gives a free flow.
  • After the page is fully dried I chose to shade the whole page blue and I have used 3 shades here
  • After I dried it with the heat tool the page was ready to work on it .
  • I have added torn paper scraps and glued them to the page to create interest.
  • I have used a dry embossed card stock sized 6x4 and added paper scraps and die cut along with the stamped girl image .
  • I have added flowers and butterfly stickers till I was happy with the result
  • I have used Tim Holtz stickers to make up the sentiments and love how it brings out the best in the journal.
  • I have stamped the numbers as I am actually doing and grateful for each day of the stay here .
  • Finally completed the page with a bakers twine ties up .

Leaving you with the pictures from Bath Spa ,

Bath is a town set in the rolling countryside of southwest England, known for its natural hot springs and 18th-century Georgian architecture. Honey-coloured Bath stone has been used extensively in the town’s architecture, including at Bath Abbey, noted for its fan-vaulting, tower and large stained-glass windows. The museum at the site of the original Roman-era Baths includes The Great Bath, statues and a temple.

Artist trading cards (ATCs)

Hello friends

I want to do something new this year. So I was thinking of starting a series on my blog. I wanted to get going on my making 'to do' list and also learn some new skills, so I thought I would try to make at least one small project a week (sometimes large projects too!) and as I started to plan n I realised it would be a fantastic way to do something and challenge myself !

'52 Weeks, 52 Crafts' is a challenge I set out for myself and here are the creations this week. Artist trading cards (ATCs) are miniature pieces of art that are traded around the world. The only official rule for ATCs is the size: 2.5″ x 3.5″.

ATC's are my first trials and I learnt something new :)

Over the past few years, I have accumulated a lot of pattern paper pads, stamps, stickers ,ribbon, paper scraps etc. So I have decided that this year, if I feel like I need new inspiration then I'm going to "Shop My Stash"

Ever few weeks, I'm going to use my stamps, dies, embossing folders in rotation so that all get used.

So, I do hope you'll keep joining me throughout  to provide support and encouragement as I keep working towards these goals.

About My Blog

I am a MBA finance graduate turned Crafter :) HappyMomentzz came together as a opportunity to fulfil my creative instinct for someone who enjoy's making handmade things !

I have been crafting since I was a little girl. Sitting by my Grandmother, watching her sew and craft, it became almost natural for me to follow in her footsteps. Fascinated by the beauty of Indian sarees, I went on to design & got trained to do handwork on Sari’s & Dresses. Over the years I got into painting and watercolors. I tried my hand at different mediums, each one equally interesting and challenging as the other. I have always been surrounded by many creative housewives all my life, they inspired me n build my dream stronger for being a care oriented women.

I started scrap-booking to organise our photos, but it turned into a passion when I was asked to create some scrapbooks for friends and there it was, the niche I was looking for. I then started card-making, I have been addicted to Layouts with some mixed media techniques, with a sense to details and layering. Now my passion are albums, mini and with bookbinding. I love that you can incorporate so many techniques and tips in one project. Also I love creating on the canvas, it allows me to think that I am a true artist!!

Currently I love stamping and art journaling and '52 Weeks, 52 Crafts' is a challenge I set out for myself  I wanted to get going on my making 'to do' list and also learn some new skills, so I thought I would try to make at least one small project a week (sometimes large projects too!) and as I started to plan n I realised it would be a fantastic way to do something and challenge myself !
